Indonesian teleco company PT Excelcomindo Pratama (XL) is planning to upgrade the BlackBerry bandwidth capacity by around 50 percent directly to the server belonging to Research In Motion (RIM) in Canada, according to XL President Director Hasnul Suhaemi, on August 7..

"For the time being, the capacity of direct BlackBerry bandwidth to RIM server is around 45 Mbps. By the next two weeks, it will be upgraded by 50 percent to 65 Mbps," said Hasnul.

In the same occasion, Hasnul said that the XL BlackBerry has reached 135 thousand customers, which is claimed as the largest in Indonesia compared to Indosat and Telkomsel.

"According to XL internal marketing, the number of our BlackBerry users is 135 thousand," said Hasnul.

XL set growth in its users by more than 1,000 percent in 2009 with 200,000 users. This is a revised version from the previous target of 100 thousand users made in late 2008.
